
Chocky is a pre-cert UK VHS release by Thames (Thorn EMI) on July 1985. It is a re-edited feature film version of the six-part serial shown on ITV.

Matthew Gore is a normal, healthy 12-year-old enjoying a happy family and school life. So when his parents find him answering unheard questions and conducting one-sided arguments – they dismiss it as a passing phase. But it doesn't pass.
What is happening to him? and why does begin to display startling new abilities in the classroom, like counting in binary code mathematics? Gradually, the realisation dawns upon his parents; they are dealing with something beyond their power to control – they are dealing with something that lives in Matthew's head, 'Chocky'.
Thames Television's supernatural drama Chocky is based on the best seller by famed science fiction writer John Wydham, author of such classics as 'Day of the Triffids', 'The Chrysalids', 'The Kraken Wakes' and 'The Midwich Cuckoos' (adapted for the screen as Village of the Damned).
